enjoyed truth emerging through ritual intoxication instead of rational process. The Dionysian themes and the way the story turned confession into power were interesting. Your prose flows very naturally.
This felt like gothic literary horror in its purest form: elegant on the surface while rot quietly breathes beneath every interaction. The atmosphere is incredibly controlled, especially the progression from academic exclusivity into ritualized moral collapse.
I loved how the masks, pseudonyms, Lethe, and the Manor itself gradually transform from theatrical eccentricity into something genuinely predatory. The final revelation lands because the story understands that narrative power and institutional power often feed each other.
The closing lines were especially strong. Cold. Precise. Inevitable.
Wowza! Ok this was so good! I had to go back to stack the quotes I liked best. Amazing story! I was not expecting the expose, I was expecting the dark side after the good feels, but I did not think Hugo would do that. I thought he may just disappear. Excellent kept me riveted!
I found it interesting, and maybe a bit typical, that the women’s crimes were of impulse and the harm they caused was attempting to cover up their wrongdoing. Whereas the men committed crimes that were sadistic, premeditated and caused considerable harm… with a sense of complete entitlement
You make a good point. I was trying to emphasize the old boys club atmosphere and the utter lack of consequence or accountability in their lives. But I think that's also why I made Katherine so ruthless. To show that once empowered and backed by institutions, stepping on people to get to the top seems to become strangely acceptable.
I didn’t see the ruthlessness being as much a tool to get to the prize as much as a sense of demanding justice. And if that also gives her the prize, all the better.
She is a bit like a journalist that chooses to expose an evil because it must be exposed but also because it’s her big break to gain fame in her craft.
Whoa! I read every word and it was amazing. I kept thinking, "I want this to be a movie, I want this to be a movie." I was seeing sets and actors and it was really worth it. Thank you! YOU are a writer. A REAL one. AND. I could not love it more and I'd read more and more.
Absolutely chilling and immersive. Incredible atmosphere and tension throughout!
I really appreciate you reading, Aaliya! Thank you so much! 🥀🤍

Reminds me a bit of The Skulls, but then it goes further and is much better.
Thank you. ☺️🖤
‘Knowledge is power. Secrets are currency. The dagger we wield is truth. And remember—you are here to write.’
Never a disappointing turn! Not written, more woven💛
Thank you so much! ☺️❤️
Oh my gosh. I forget how captivating your writing is. I really need to catch more of your work.
This was amazing, I'm so glad I read this today! Thank you. ❤️
Thank you so much, Cory! I really appreciate you reading. ☺️❤️
I can completely believe this type of thing goes on. Vividly written, elegantly sinister and ultimately saddening because of the world we exist in.
Oh wow. That got dark, then the twist and it got even darker. Absolutely brilliant!
