Loved this--genuinely caught me by surprise when it shifted from horror to romance, brilliant reversal of expectations. Super cute ending and I loved the narration. Well done!
Rachel spends so much of the story constructing a version of herself for other people, only to be confronted by someone who seems to see through it. Yet even then, I wasn’t sure whether either of them was truly seeing the other or just a different layer of the performance. I also loved how the story kept shifting under my feet. At first it felt like a satire, then a thriller, then something strangely tender and unsettling at the same time. By the end, I found myself thinking less about streaming culture and more about the masks we all wear and what happens when someone gets close enough to look behind them.
Really compelling piece. It made me uncomfortable in all the right ways.
Thank you! The story is very much about masking and compartmentalized selves. Streaming and internet culture was just a vehicle to explore that, but I think it is a good one. Thank you for reading. ❤️
Love a short story that leaves you with something to chew over. This definitely does that. Because the story stops where it does, we don't get a full picture of the new dynamic between Rachel and Evan, whether it's fulfilling or mutually exploitive. If it went on for another 500 words, it might turn into a very different story.
Thank you. I find relational dynamics and protective adaptations fascinating, but resolving things too cleanly can feel untrue to the murkier realities of people. This way people can take from the story what they like. 🖤
I love stories that transform sweetness into horror. Perhaps terror is simply that moment when the familiar begins to invert itself - a quiet descent into the unexpected, where something beautiful reveals another face.
It's interesting seeing the reactions from people too. Some see the ending as a sweet romance, some see it as a horror show. The truth is likely somewhere in between. 😆
This was sooo goood. Totally immersed in the world and voice was pitch perfect but yes did not expect that ending but I guess sometimes you find the right freak for you.
Ohhh I wasn't expecting that ending! I actually loved it
Thank you! It was gonna be different initially but after I developed their characters this seemed like the right ending for them. 😆
Well hey. Two is company?
🤣 Exactly.

Thank you so much!!
Can't say I expected that kind of ending but the story was truly wonderful! I can't wait to explore more.
Thank you so much! ❤️

The Class of 2009 mug on the floor... Not the cheerful little school-photo ceramic turning into a whole horror receipt, please..! >.<
🤣🤣
The way the chat interactions are portrayed is disturbingly authentic.
I did my research! 🤣🤗
I really enjoyed
I'm so glad! ❤️
I’m a sucker for a happy ending to a creepy story! LOVED!
Thank you!!

Thank you so much. 🖤
That took an unexpected turn! The ending made me smile a lot.🐶ྀི
I'm so glad. ☺️
The twist left me almost a bit disappointed. Engaging piece!🖤
Thank you! She was gonna be a killer but then I decided they deserved each other. 🤣
Hahahaha that would have been more predictable. This gives a more unusual unsettling dynamic I find more interesting.

It always is in the end! For me this ending gives a power-couple vibe about to assert dominance and control on another level hahaha.
Oh, that is absolutely them. If you can't beat ‘em, join ‘em. 🤣🖤
Well done 👍🏻
Thank you!
Labyrinthine. You bad little puppy 🐶
Woof.
Nut!!.

Thank you! Yeah I debated a lot on the ending. This one felt the most true to them lol.
